Wild Food Foraging with Gin making
You'll start the day at Bramble Cafe in Poundbury Dorchester at 10am before heading off (in own cars). Courses run on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
We spend the morning exploring the hedgerow and fields, finding a variety of wild plants and herbs and talk about how we can cook and use this wonderful bounty. Then we head to the seashore where, we might find shells, sharks purse, a variety of edible seaweeds and seashore plants. Mat will show you how to identify edible plants with confidence and how to stay safe using them.
We'll return to the cafe early afternoon for a delicious 3 course lunch, prepared by the team at the Cafe, inspired by beautiful seasonal
Over lunch Mat will talk about making Gin and other ways of enjoying and preserving wild berries. You will have the opportunity to taste some Bramble Gin and Balsamic cured Blackberries (other berries might be substituted out of season).
You can then choose a jar filled with your choice of either Bramble Gin or Balsamic Berries to take away as a tasty memento of the day.

This course is only really suitable for children of 12yrs of age and upwards. Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Please wear sturdy shoes or wellies.
Each excursion is dependent on what's in season, what wild foods are available and, of course, the weather ... the course will take place whatever the weather.
There may be some slippery paths and mud so please consider this if you are in doubt about your ability.
The drive to locations will be no more than 30 miles over the course of the day, we encourage informal car sharing on the day.
Refunds will only be given if you cancel your booking more than seven days prior to the course date. If your booking is through a third party then their cancellation terms apply.
We are as understanding as possible and will always try to work with you to get you on another course should something happen.
It is rare that we do have to but we will give you as much notice as possible should it become necessary to move a course, we recommend you have travel insurance to cover any costs.
